Specialist Guiomar M. Silva-Azevedo at 206-526-6034 NOAA's National
Marine Fisheries Service has a requirement for krill demography studies
to be accomplished during a research cruise in the vicinity of Elephant
Island, Antarctica, during the months of January, February, and March
1996. The cruise will consist of two 30-day legs, with port calls (2-3
days in duration) in Punta Arenas, Chile before and after each leg.
Two experienced workers are required for each cruise leg to conduct the
studies. The objectives of the studies include: (1) description of the
population structure and biological characteristic of krill collected
throughout the AMLR study area and over the duration of the cruise;
and (2) interpretation and correlation of krill data with information
on phytoplankton biomass, primary production, circulation pattern, and
water mass boundaries. All interested concerns may request a copy of
the RFP and submit proposals which will be considered by the
Government. (0193) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0014 19950713\B-0003.SOL)
