The Coastal Systems Station (CSS) Dahlgren Division, NSWC, intends to procure the following item: Cable Cutter (Exercise) MK 27 MOD 1 - Ship/Pack Condition. This is an electromechanical, acoustically-activated, explosive cable cutter. The MK 27 MOD 1 is an exercise unit (EU) in which the electronics/battery pack is replaced by an aluminum mass of identical weight, and the cutter assembly is replaced by a solid bronze casting of the same weight. An EU will be mounted on each extension arm of a mine neutralization submersible vehicle, and the vehicle is deployed with the intent of securing the EU to a practice cable for training purposes. After the EUs are secured, the vehicle returns to the ship. The practice cable is recovered, and the EUs are removed from the cable for reuse. Three EUs will be required for first article testing, with FOB destination delivery to CSS, NLT 120 days after contract award. Production quantity will be for 25 EUs, with FOB destination delivery to Hawthrone, NV, NLT 210 days after contract award. QA requirements include MIL-I-45208. Drawings and specifications will be provided with the solicitation. A Firm Fixed-Price contract, with an option for an additional 25-75 EUs is anticipated.
