Piette (816) 426-6823 extension 229 Supply Sources Sought--The U.S. Department of Commerce/NOAA, intends to solicit and purchase VAISALA PTH dropsonde sensor modules, P/N RSS90, UNIT Each, QTY 1,100, and VAISALA GPS receiver modules, P/N GPS111, UNIT Each, QTY 1,100. The VAISALA RSS90 modules are used to measure pressure, temperature and humidity, and the VAISALA GPS111, is a codeless Dept. of Defense Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver. These items will be purchased for use by NOAA's Aircraft Operations Center, MacDill AFB, Florida 33608, to be installed in expendable dropwindsondes, which are ejected in flight. The VAISALA PTH RSS90 dropsonde modules and VAISALA GPS111 receive modules are designed, developed and produced by VAISALA, Inc., Woburn, MA 01801, and the Government knows of no other equipment which will meet its requirement. Proposed alternate sensors shall have identical form, fit and function to the VAISALA modules. Information requests concerning any proprietary nature of the equipment and supporting documentation, should be directed to VAISALA, Inc.. The Government reserves the right to conduct compatibility tests on a sample of any proposed alternate sensor module. Vendor must demonstrate the ability to deliver the required quantity of proposed alternate modules within the Government's required schedule. Required delivery is September 30, 1995. This is a notice for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement to submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within forty-five days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. Interested firms shall submit along with its written request for a copy of the solicitation, its ability to provide the required equipment or same as equal; i.e., shall have identical form, fit, and function to the VAISALA modules. Also, identify at least 3 sources to which it has supplied the equipment to previously. Requests received without this required information will be considered non-responsive to this synopsis and will not be considered. Information received as a result of this notice of intent will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Requests for a copy of the solicitation document must be submitted by mail or FAX (816) 426- 7530 to Ann Piette, referencing Solicitation No. 52WCNA506094AP. Receipt by the Government of a faxed request is the responsibility of the sender. If no qualified responses are received, the Government intends to contract with VAISALA for the required equipment.
