Veterans Affairs is seeking information about hearing aids which offer
advanced technology features. Examples of advanced technology features
are: 1) Multiple band amplification channels; 2) Multiple memories,
including those accessed through remote controls; 3) Advanced
compression circuitry such as dynamic range compression available in
two separate channels; and 4) programmability of the electracoustic
characteristics. Information should be provided about any fitting and
evaluation techniques available to audiologists as part of an operating
system. Also include a description about any techniques or protocols
included as part of the operating software which support candidacy
decisions and indications for use of these advanced circuits.
Requirements: 1) Programmable systems should be compatible with NOAH
software and the universal fitting (HIPRO) system. 2) Training support
to VA audiologists is required. Provide a description of the type and
amount of training which can be provided to the 115 VA dispensing
clinics. Those sources interested in this Request for Information are
invited to submit their information, and a description of any currently
available product that meets our requirements by July 31, 1995. This is
not a Request for Proposal and no solicitation is available. The
Government will not respond to any requests for solicitation packages
under this Request for Information. The Government will not pay for any
information required in response to this RFI nor will the Government
compensate any respondent for any cost incurred in developing the
