(410) 636-4343 Potential sources sought. The U.S. Coast Guard is
seeking qualified sources that can provide stern tube shaft
seals--inboard, seawater lubricated, split design, consisting of a seal
housing one or two face type primary sealing elements, a stationary
inflatable seal and an emergency packing subassembly--estimated
quantity 20 each--NSN 5330-01-LG4-6756, in accordance with U.S. Coast
Guard Specification No. 210B-CGY-243-1, dated 15 June 1990, with its
Amendment No. 1, dated 20 October 1994, end use B Class 210'
vessels--No drawings available--All stern tube shaft seals to be made
in accordance with Coast Guard specifications cited herein--
Instruction books in accordance with Coast Guard specification number
CGY-S1-2, Rev. 31 Oct 1989-- Installation and record tracings and
record drawing prints, in accordance with specification number
CGY-S1-1, Rev. 10 Sept. 1990--It is the government's intention to issue
a 2-year requirements contract, with a definite delivery order for 6
each at the time of award--It is the government's belief that the items
required can only be obtained from John Crane, Inc.; however, other
organizations having the expertise and required capabilities to provide
equivalent parts are invited to submit complete information discussing
their capabilities as follows: (i.e., salient physical, functional and
serviceability, characteristics) 1) Show that they have satisfactorily
manufactured the item for the government or the prime equipment
manufacturer; or 2) submit complete and current engineering data
comparing the offered item to the OEM's item to demonstrate the
acceptability of the item. Organizations having the capabilities and
expertise required are invited to submit complete detailed information
discussing their capabilites in duplicate within fifteen (15) days of
the date of publication of this announcement. No cost or pricing data
is required. This is not a Request for Proposal (RFP). The government
does not intend to pay for the information solicited. Responses must
be concise and be specifically directed to the requirement mentioned
above. Concerns that respond to the notice must fully demonstrate their
capabilities to meet the requirements. Adequate detailed data by which
to evaluate capabilities should be sent to the attention of Mary Jo
Staron, Contracting Officer (Code 3130/56). This Notice is for
informational purposes for Minority, Women-Owned, and Disadvantaged
Business Enterprises: The Department of Transportation (DOT), Office of
Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU), has a program to
assist minority, women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to
acquire short-term working capital assistance for
transportation-related contracts. Loans are available under the DOT
Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide
accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
