Department of Energy's (DOE) Morgantown Energy Technology Center
announces the availability of Program Research and Development
Announcement (PRDA) No. DE-RA21-95MC32194 entitled ''Characterization,
Monitoring, and Sensor Technology (CMST) Development'' on or about
8/15/95. The PRDA supports the mission of the Office of Technology
Development which is within DOE's Office of Environmental Management.
The major objective of the procurement is to provide better, faster,
cheaper, and safer technologies to meet the DOE's needs for the
characterization and monitoring of their nuclear weapons complex. The
five highest priority need areas for industry involvement for this PRDA
are listed below: 1) Sensors for subsurface deployment (down-hole,
in-well, permanent emplacement, and in cone penetrometers); 2)a.
Real-time monitoring technology for remediation and waste treatment
process; 2)b. Monitoring technology for long-term migration
investigation; 3) Integrity verification of subsurface barriers and
performance monitoring; 4) Low-level mixed waste (LLMW) process and
effluent monitoring; and, 5) Characterization, monitoring, and sensor
technology for high-level waste tanks. Only written requests for the
solicitation will be honored. Written requests for the PRDA should
reference the PRDA title and number and should specify a point of
contact at the requestors location. Request may be submitted by mail at

via internet. A forty-five day response time is planned. Telephone
