The project consists of furnishing manpower, labor, equipment, materials, supplies, and supervision required for removal of the existing doors and seals (and their supporting features) and the installation of new doors and seals at the Bulk Mail Center, 1800 James Jackson Parkway, Atlanta, Georgia 30369-9998. Proposals are to be based on replacing a total of 100 dock doors and dock seals. Since maintenance is being done every day, it may be that one or more doors or seals may have been replaced prior to contract award. The requested unit prices will apply for any required adjustment in the overall quantity to be replaced. The unit prices are to be for the complete replacement of one dock door and one dock seal, and is to include all demolition work, new installation work, materials, equipment, overhead and profit. No demolition work at any dock position will be permitted until all of the tools, material, equipment, and manpower are on hand to complete the installation. Only one dock position will be available to the Contractor at any one time, with a ''rolling'' turnover for the next position to come available. The next available position may not necessarily be the adjacent dock position for some time. It is anticipated that contract award will be made in very late August or some time in September. The peak package period for a Bulk Mail Center generally occurs in September and extends through December. For that reason, the Contractor should anticipate a delayed notice to proceed with actual demolition/installation work not starting until January 3, 1996. The U. S. Postal Service agrees to make two progress payments, one for just the dock doors and another for just the dock seals, without the normal 5% retainage, upon receipt of the equipment and manufacturer's invoice (no Contractor mark-up) with the equipment prepared for exterior storage and properly stored and protected.
