The system is a non-heavy metal lens blank blocking system which will be used in the Fitzsimons Optical Fabrication Laboratory and will replace the current hazardous material, lead-cadmium alloy blocking system currently in use. The Gerber Step One Blocking System is the only new technology blocking system on the market which eliminates the traditional hazardous blocking compounds, provides adhesion and lens blank support identical to alloy blocking, and operates at a low temperature with ease of handling.
