(310)725-7549 The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Western Pacifc
Region has a requirement for the procurement of NEXRAD Access Hardware
Upgrade for the Graphic Weather Display Systems (GWDS). There are seven
(7) Automated Flight Stations (AFSS) in the Western-Pacific Region
requiring NEXRAD Upgrade (Hawthorne, Riverside, San Diego, Oakland,
Rancho Murietta, Reno, and Prescott AFSS. The FAA intends to solicit
and negotiate on a sole source basis with Kavouras,INC.; 6301 34th Ave.
S; Minneapolis, MN 55450, (See note #22 ) under authority of 41 USC 253
(c) (1), as implemented by Far 6.302-1, unless additional sources are
located. The FAA intends to purchase: Quantity 7 ea. NEXRAD Access
Hardare Upgrade, Kavouras; Quantity 1 ea. NEXRAD Product Training
Class, Kavouras. The equipment to be provided includes hardware items,
instructions, and technical support to modify and upgrade the GWDS at
these sites as well as training users to use the upgrade system. This
upgrade equipment is required on a brand name basis as it must be
completely and totally compatible with existing Kavouras equipment.
Items/equipment proposed other than or different from the listed above
WILL NOT be considered. Those contracters capable of providing the
above equipment shall submit, in writing, to the above individual
complete technical and pricing information within (15) calendar days
after the date of first publication of this notice. Any responses to
this notice must contain information necessary to substantiate
capability to meet the entire requirement. Upon final determination
from analyzing responses to the synopsis of intent, the Contracting
Officer may determine that a solicitation will be issued. If a
solicitation is issued, no additional synopsis will be published. Any
such solicitation will be issued to the intended vendor and all capable
firms that respond to this synopsis of intent or otherwise request a
copy of the solicitation. NO TELEPHONE REQUESTS WILL BE ACCEPTED. This
notice BELOW is for informational purposes for Minority, Women-Owned
and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The Department of
Transportation (DOT), Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business
Utilization (OSDBU), has a program to assist minority, women-owned and
disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short-term working
capital assistance for transportation-related contracts. Loans are
available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP), at prime
interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximun
