SPECIALIST (301) 594-8855. The National Institutes Of Health (NIH),
National Institute of Diabetes & Digestive & Kidney Diseases (NIDDK)
intends to purchase through a Request For Quotation (RFQ) The
Lasersharp 24 Bit Software/Hardware Upgrade, a Three (3) Dimensional
Software Package for The Bio-Rad Medical Research Council (MRC)-1000
Confocal Laser Imaging System Upgrade. The Bio-Rad Medical Research
Council (MRC)-1000 Confocal Laser Imaging System Upgrade updates our
existing Bio-Rad 600 Confocal Imaging System which is used for image
analysis of biological speciamens with fluorescence microscopy. The
Lasersharp 24 Bit Software/Hardware Upgrade will convert this analog
system into an entirely digital system, significantly increasing the
resolution of the images that will be produced and collecting data from
biological material. The Lasersharp 24 Bit Software/Hardware Upgrade
will also provide integrated three-dimensional rendering capacity that
allows analysis of data using parameters not presently available to
us. THE SOFTWARE MUST PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING MANDATORY CAPABILITIES: 1)
Twenty-Four (24) -Bit Image Acquisition From A Bio-Rad 1000 Confocal
Scanhead, 2) Integrated Three (3) Dimensional Rendering. THE HARDWARE
MUST BE UPGRADED TO THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM MANDATORY SPECIFICATIONS: 1)
Ninety (90) MHz Pentium Computer 2) 1050 MB Hard Drive (SCSI-2) 3)
Thirty-Two (32) MB RAM 4) CD-ROM 5) 1.44 MB 3.5 Inch Floppy Drive 6)
Twenty-One (21) Inch High-Resolution Monitor With 1280 x 1024 Pixel
Array 7) Data Acquisition Board 8) Custom High Resolution Display Card
The Institute intends to purchase this equipment by Other Than Full
And Open Competition. The hardware must be completely integrated with
the existing Confocal Laser Scanhead and its High Sensitivity
Photomultipliers. The intended source Bio-Rad Laboratories is the
manufacture of the Lasersharp 24 Bit Software/Hardware Upgrade and
customized display card, and also the vendor for upgraded computer and
monitor. Bio-Rad Laboratories guarantees complete of standard software
and hardware into the existing Bio-Rad Laboratories current systems,
for those elements that they provide. All responsibile sources may
submit a Request For Quotation, which if timely received, shall be
considered by the agency. (See Note 22). It is anticipated that Request
For Quotation (RFQ) Number NIDDK-SSAS-95-108, will be available fifteen
(15) days after the publication date of this synopsis. Receipt of
quotations will be due ten (10) days after the release of the RFQ. The
anticipated award date is August 14, 1995. Requests for copies of the
RFQ must be in writing and may be requested by FAX (301) 480-4226.
