COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 24,1995 PSA#1394VARIABLE COMPRESSION RATIO FREE PISTON INTERNAL COMBUSTION ELECTRICAL
GENERATOR Sandia National Laboratories has designed a two stroke engine
to produce electricity not power, run at essentially constant speed and
power, and because of its design characteristics, maximize thermal
efficiency while minimizing emissions at the operating point. The
engine will shut off when not needed and run at essentially constant
speed and power when on. This engine does not have either a crankshaft
or a valve train and has only one moving part. It can operate on any
fuel by adjusting the compression ratio for a given fuel. The engine is
light weight and no massive rigid structure is required to support the
engine. This technology has potential applications in hybrid vehicles
in the automobile industry and stationary power generating
applications (e.g.) electrical generators. This is not a solicitation.
Parties interested in licensing this technology are invited to submit
a letter of interest providing information about the company, area of
potential application for the technology and a point of contact.
Letters should be sent to: Joanne Trujillo, Sandia National
Laboratories, P.O. Box 5800, Albuquerque, NM 87185-1380. (FAX)
