Masciocchi 202/433-3865, DSN 288-3865/Contract Specialist, Ms Esther Scarborough 202/433-4949, DSN 288-4949/Contracting Officer This synopsis is a special announcement for vendor input to the Navy's intent to contract for maintenance and operational services of the Consolidated Area Telecommunications System (CATS), San Diego. The CATS II requirement is to provide information transfer services for the CATS Network encompassing engineering, planning, re-configuration, expansion, enhancement, implementation, and management including all functions associated with the administration, operation, maintenance, and provisioning of a telecommunications network. The CATS II contract will provide enhanced information transfer capabilities for an integrated Digital Communications Network. The current system consists of 17 Digital PABXs at 14 separate Navy Base locations in the San Diego metropolitan area. These sites interconnect via a Digital microwave system to form a Distributed Electronic Tandem Network. The Naval Information Systems Management Center, Contracting Directorate (NISMC 02) has established a bulletin board to permit speedy access to and exchange of information with the Navy. Electronic communication will be the standard for this procurement. The bulletin board number for downloading the draft RFP is (202) 433-3405. Comments on the draft RFP must be uploaded to the bulletin board no later than 8 September 1995. The Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station, San Diego will also host an open vendor conference/sites visit, to be held in San Diego, CA in late August 1995. The exact date, time, and agenda will be published later. Interested participants should register their intent to attend on the NISMC 02 bulletin board no later than August 15, 1995.
