The Government intends to purchase on a specific make and model basis the Hewlett Packard (HP) local area network (LAN) advisor system consisting of the following items: HP ethernet advisor p/n J2522B inclusive of a 486DX4 100Mhz with color display, PCMCIA type I/II, 256MH hard drive, 16MB memory, built-in NIC, and all applications software, (1 ea); Option 208 inclusive of internet reporter baselining software, network baselining/reporting application uses data collected by HP Lan advisor to produce tabular and graphical reports of network performance for benchmarking, (1 ea); option 221 inclusive of upgrade display to active matrix VGA by replacing 10.4 inch passive color display with 10.4 inch active matrix display, (1 ea); FDDI interface for lan/internet advisor p/n J2524A inclusive of DAS, SAS, UTP, and STP interfaces and 32MB of capture memory, (1 ea); HP Lan advisor software, revision A.08.00 p/n J2526A inclusive of media 3.5 inch floppies, manuals and installation guide, (1 ea); requires 486 advisor with 16MB of memory and DOS 6.0 or greater; HP softside carrying case for the J2300 series p/n J2305A, (1 ea); HP 9 pin mouse p/n 1140-1894, (1 ea); the Government requires a Lan advisor system that provides an upgrade path which supports expert analysis for both FDDI and ethernet. The system must be DOS based and generate 100 percent FDDI traffic load. The system must provide a graphical representation of both the logical and physical ring. The Lan advisor system must allow simultaneous traffic generation, analysis (decode, expert system) and statistical measurements. Award is to be made under simplified acquisition procedures.
