FAX: (401) 841-4820 The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division,
Newport intends to procure 865 man-hours on-site software engineering
services to support the wide range of Digital Equipment Corp. software
products currently being utilized in the VAXcluster computer
operations. The software engineer shall perform on-site analysis and
design, coding, testing, debugging, performance tuning, error analysis
and correction, software upgrades and maintenance of large scale
projects to support the system software environment on VAXcluster
computer systems located in Newport, RI. The Period of Performance
shall be from 01 October 1995 to 31 March 1996. The Primary Period of
Performance shall be from 0800 to 1700 Monday thru Friday. The
contractor shall provide on-site backup coverage, if requested by the
Government for the software engineer during time of extended absence
from work as for vacations or sick leave. The software engineer shall
have completed at least one year of study beyond a Bachelor's Degree in
areas of computer science, software engineering, or related technical
subjects. The software engineer shall have at least ten years
experience working in VAX/VMS software environment, seven years of
work-related experience in designing and debugging large, complex
Digital Control Language (DCL) programs and a knowledge of VAX assembly
language programming (MACRO) obtained either by having one year
work-related experience with MACRO or by having completed a MACRO
training class. At least six years of work-related experience shall be
with VMS operating system internals, including designing system level
programs to enhance and improve the operations, performance tuning,
debugging, and developing user interfaces to VAX/VMS systems. The
software engineer shall demonstrate hands-on experience and training in
the areas of: VMS dump analysis, DECNET configuration, debugging, and
internal design, VMS SYSGEN configuration and internal design, and VMS
system tuning. The software engineer shall have a minimum of six years
of work-related experience in VAX/VMS system management of the
following types of systems: VAX 11/785, VAX 8600, VAX 8800, VAX 8820,
and VAX 7620. At least five of those years shall have been in a
CI-based VAXcluster environment with more than 1,000 users where
management and performance of the VAXcluster was included as
responsibilities. The software engineer shall be familiar with and have
the indicated minimum years of experience (listed below) installing,
upgrading, maintaining, supporting, debugging, and managing each of the
following DEC layered software products: a minimum of seven years
experience with each of the following DEC proprietary software
products: VMS, VMS mail, Fortran, Cobol, Basic, LSE, Decalc, DECpage,
DECgraph, RDB, DTR, TDMS, and DECnet; a minimum of five years
experience with each of the following DEC proprietary software
products: ALL-IN-1, WPS- PLUS, Teamdata, and RALLY; a minimum of three
years experience with each of the following DEC proprietary software
products: CDD+, DBMS, DQS and DECreporter; a minimum of one year
experience with each of the following DEC proprietary software
products: DECPS, MOTIF, DECforms, NMS, and DECtrace. The software
engineer shall have a minimum of four years experience with PATHWORKS
and TEAMLINKS including the design and configuration of PATHWORKS
networks and TEAMLINKS mail systems, PATHWORKS and TEAMLINKS internals
and installation and management of the PATHWORKS and TEAMLINKS
software. The software engineer shall have a minimum of three years
experience with DEC LAT protocol and DECserver terminal and print
