PREQUALIFIED CONTRACTORS FOR DESIGN/BUILD OF THE ROANOKE, VA P&DC Sol.

Postal Service is issuing Request for Proposals for the design/build
expansion of the Processing and Distribution Center, 419 Rutherford Ave
NE, Roanoke, VA 24022-9998. It is intended to award a fixed-price
contract for completion of design documents and construction of a
one-story 36,500 gsf expansion to the existing facility plus
approximately 1,000 gsf of an elevated lookout gallery on a USPS owned
site. Design is to be developed in accordance with all national and
local codes, including local governments, USPS designs and guidelines
and details. Exterior walls shall match the existing masonry cavity
wall with 4'' brick (or 4'' ground face CMU) insulated cavity and 8''
CMU with precast concrete spandrel panels on steel backup. A sprinkler
and fire alarm system are required and will be integrated into the
existing system. HVAC system shall consist of rooftop units with
controls fied into the existing building. The roof shall be be a
ballasted single-ply membrane system similar to the previous expansion.
Structural steel shall be similar to the recent expansion with typical
40'x40' bay spacings. Utilities within the expansion footprint and to
the adjoining VMF will require relocation. Due to subsurface
conditions, special foundation systems are anticipated. Construction is
anticipated to be completed within 240 calendar days of Notice to
Proceed after award. The construction cost is valued between
$2,900,000.00 and $3,200,000.00. The twelve prequalified firms are: The

the right to reject any or all offers. Until award of the contract the
number of proposals received, the identity of the offerors, the amount
of any offer or the relative standing of offers will not be disclosed.
