63 -- ACQUISITON OF A TRACE EXPLOSIVE DETECTION DEVICE, MANUFACTURED BY ION TRACK INSTRUMENTS (ITI) SOL DTFA03-95-R-00041 DUE 080895 POC Frank Kosker, Contracting Officer, 609-485-6911. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), FAA Technical Center intends on entering into a sole source procurement with Ion Track Instruments, Inc. (ITI) for the ITI Itemiser Explosive Identification System. This system can be used to screen electronics, luggage, and personnel. The Office of FAA Aviation Security Research and Development has a congressional mandate to perform laboratory and airport evaluation tests on trace detection equipment that could potentially be used to screen electronics and carry-on baggage at airports. As a result, the FAA intends to conduct its own test and evaluation of this unit under a wide variety of conditions which includes laboratory analysis and operational evaluation.
