COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 27,1995 PSA#1397Arnold Engineering Development Center, ATTN: AEDC PKP, 100 Kindel
Drive, Suite A332, Arnold AFB, TN 37389-1332 66 -- RETROFIT TO BOICE 501-B COORDINATE MEASURING MACHINE SOL
F40650-95-R-0025 DUE 090895 POC Tony Clayborne, Contracting Officer,
(615)454-5174. This requirement is to retrofit a Boice coordinate
measuring machine to include the following: replace all computer
hardware including controller and software with a PC based system
capable of providing direct computer control. Replace existing band
drives with a drive system capable of scanning, inductosyn scales may
be replaced with Heidenhein scales if necessary to be compatible with
new syste. New computer hardware must include an IBM compatible 486 PC
with PC based software, 20'' color super VGA monitor, keyboard, mouse
and printer/plotter. PC must have 3.5'' disk slot. Software must
provide the following capabilities as a minimum: menu driven icons that
work with keyboard or mouse that include measurement routines to define
circles, lines, planes, cones, cylinders, slots, bolt hole patterns and
spheres and their relationships such as distances, intersection points,
parallelism, angularity, perpendicularity, concentricity and symmetry;
ability to take measurements in part coordinate system without
aligning part to machine axes (mathematical alignment); capability to
display and print coordinates of individual probing points; capability
to prequalify and recall probe orientation when using star probe or
indexable probe; compatibility with dmis; capability to send output to
display, printer, and/or disk file; capability to scan unknown surface
contours in DCC mode and to translate data from center of probe to
actual part surface with true representation of the data in the part
coordinate system; capability to graphically depict data taken; form
and measurement evaluation in accordance with ANSI Y14.5M Geometric
Dimensioning and Tolerencing. Additional performance requirements which
must be included with the retrofit include: two joysticks for control
of all axes located in a remote control panel with a minimum of 12 feet
of cable; remote panel must also provide an emergency stop button and
individual lockout buttons for each axis; lockout buttons provide a
disconnect from the motor drives so that the machine may be used in the
manual mode with hard probes for the rapid location of holes, scribing
lines, etc.; readouts must continue to trackprobe location while in
the manual mode; capability to use both hard probes and Renishaw
touch-trigger probes; accuracy of the Boice after completion of the
retrofit must be at least as good as the current volumetric accuracy of
plus or minus .0019'' as determined by ASME B89.1.12m; calibration will
be performed immediately prior to start of the retrofit and may be
witnessed by the vendor; the numbers obtained at that time will take
precedence over those stated above and will form the basis for
acceptance of the accuracy requirement. Retrofit will be performed on
site and must be completed within six weeks from the date the Boice is
taken out of service for the vendor to begin work. The Boice will be
made available for prospective offerors to examine prior to proposal
and also for the successful offeror to order parts and plan his work
prior to beginning the six week performance period. This requirement is
also for a probe head to be a Renishaw Model # PH10M or approved equal
with the following salient characteristics: motorized probe head to be
installed as part of retrofit; to be supplied with all connections and
hardware requried to function with retrofit; probe head provides for
motorized positioning of probe to 720 different positions as part of
inspection program with positioning repeatable to plus or minus
.0001''. Operating and Maintenance manuals to include schematics down
to and including board level. Set-up and on-site training - to include
set-up and training at Arnold AFB by factory trained personnel.
Training in the use of hardware and software included in the retrofit
for 24 hours. Computer workstation - on castors, suitable to house PC,
keyboard, monitor and printer/plotter. The performance period will be
120 calendar days after contractor receipt of notification of contract
award. Any responsible source may submit a proposal which shall be
considered. Firms responding to this synopsis should do so in writing
and indicate whether they are a minority business concern. Foreign
participation is authorized. (0206) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0557 19950726\66-0001.SOL)
