93 -- ENERGY DISSIPATOR PADS FOR AIRDROP OPERATIONS SOL DAAK60-CBD5-0032 DUE 080495 POC PAUL GANANIAN, PROJECT OFFICER, (508) 651-5371 The U.S. Army Natick Research, Development and Engineering Center is seeking sources of supply for energy dissipator pads for airdrop operations. Currently the Army uses a paper honeycomb energy dissipator pad for airdrop operations, and would like to identify alternate sources for this item. The paper honeycomb pads are used as a crushable impact energy dissipator in airdrop operations to protect various vehicles and items upon ground impact. The pads measure 48 inches wide by 96 inches long by 3 inches thick. The pads are cut by field personnel to appropriate length and width dimensions, and made into stacks which act as the energy dissipator for the landing shock of airdropped material. The pads are required to be moisture resistant and have an average dynamic crushing stress of 6,300 +/- 900 pounds per square foot to 70 percent strain. The information is requested within 45 days following the publication of this synopsis. This is not a request for proposals. No solicitation document is available.(0206)
