U.S. DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE HIGHLY VISIBLE AT TELECOM '95 WORLD SUMMIT IN GENEVA, OCTOBER 3-11, 1995. The U.S. Department of Commerce and its Commercial Service will hold a seminar, October 8 and 9, for the U.S. telecommunications industry during Telecom '95 in Geneva. The U.S. Commercial Service seminar will bring U.S. telecommunication industry's executives into contact with U.S. Commercial Officers and Commercial Specialists from our Embassies throughout Europe, including Russia, as well as other U.S. Government telecom and financing experts, for a two-day seminar devoted exclusively to exploring opportunities for U.S. telecommunications in greater Europe. American firms will also be able to utilize the recently opened America Center and its conference room at the Geneva World Trade Center, two blocks from the Palexpo exhibition grounds. In addition, the U.S. Department of Commerce will mount a USA Telecommunications Industry Business Information booth, of approximately 33 sq. m. (360 sq. ft), at a prime location within the USA Pavilion, in Hall 1 of Palexpo, the site of Telecom '95, the World Telecommunication Exhibition, October 3-11, 1995. Telecom is organized every four years by ITU (the 186-member country International Telecommunication Union). The USA Pavilion is sponsored by the U.S. Telecommunications Industry Association, and the Electronics Industries Association. The U.S. Department of Commerce booth will consist of a display of catalogs of some 50 U.S. companies. American companies are invited to send their catalogs for display in this special U.S. industry information center and catalog show. In the USA Pavilion, there will be some 120 U.S. companies exhibiting with their own booth, and some 30 others in other halls. At the Department of Commrce booth a demonstration illustrating the theme of the Information Highway and/or videoconferencing will be staged. Topics of interest which will be illustrated on a large screen console (e.g. of V-Tel) or a LiveBoard (by Xerox Liveworks, Inc.) include: telemedicine; distance learning; Internet's World Wide Web and Web browsers or interfaces such as Mosaic, Prodigy, Netscape; and other online services such as CompuServe, America Online, the Microsoft Network, AT&T's Online Network, E-mail services, etc. Information: Daniel R.
