The development and implementation of over-the-road mass electric transportation to provide daily routine transportation betweem its corporate offices located in Knoxville and Chattanooga Tennessee, a distance of 110 miles, with the capability to expand to other locations or other highway use in the future. (2). It is TVA's goal to develop an innovative vehicle using state of the art technology that would provide electrically propelled highway speed, while minimizing the servicing and turnaround times required for this service. The use of advanced electric drives, advanced batteries or other power sources, with the option for an onboard Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) is desirable. Addition of options to enhance comfort and productivity of passengers while enroute is also desirable. (3). This project is to be accomplished in phases with the initial phase to be the development of a design specification. This would be used by a manufacturer during a follow on phase for the construction of a proof-of-concept vehicle. Additional phases could include the manufacturer of additional vehicles, modifications upgrading existing vehicles, and assistance in establishing a regional manufacturing facility. (4). Parties interested in providing design services for the development of a specification for these vehicles should submit their staff qualifications, prior experience in the field of electric transportation, prior manufacturing experience (if,any) and other pertinent information related to mass transportation, electric propulsion, vehicle manufacturing, etc. to Sue Porter.
