37 -- BOVINE FEED CONSUMPTION DETERMINATOR. SOL 24-6218-95. Due 082895. Contact Point, Roger F. Garza, Contracting Officer, 404/260-9448. This solicitation is for the supply and delivery of eight Bovine Feed Consumption determinators. The Determinator must be able to measure the individual consumption of a forage or grain based diet (plus/minus .1 lb) by 15 bovine animals weighing 400 to 1200 lbs, when all animals are in the same pen. The system must recognize each animal as it approaches the unit, measure how much of the diet that animal consumes (by weight), keep consumption records of each animal as an individual, summarize each animal's consumption for an operator specified time interval (not to exceed 24 Hours), and be able to print or display the summary on request. On demand the unit will visually display how much feed is in the storage bin and the diet consumption of each animal by identification number. The diet storage unit shall be of steel construction with a feed storage capacity of at least 20 cubic feet. Each animal within a pen will be identified with a light-weight compact device. Replacement identification units shall be provided. Identification units may be worn in the ear or around the neck of each animal. These units will be located in adjacent pens (30 feet apart). The system's identification and recording systems should not interact at this distance. The power input will be 110 VAC with a battery backup in case of power failure. Each pen will contain at least 15 animals. Only written request for solicitation packages will be accepted.
