COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 28,1995 PSA#1398COMMERCE TO SPONSOR COMPUTER-RELATED TRADE MISSION TO THE C.I.S. The
U.S. Department of Commerce is inviting U.S. computer hardware,
software, and service firms to participate in a Trade Mission to
Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and the Ukraine, October 23-31, 1995. U.S.
companies are strongly encouraged to be part of the first U.S.
Government sponsored computer related trade mission to these countries.
This event follows the first U.S. Department of Commerce Computer
industry trade mission to Russia, April 1995, which was judged by the
participants to be highly successful. The Russian mission demonstrated
the enthusiasm and the desire for U.S. computer goods and services
that exist not only in Russia, but throughout the Commonwealth of
Independent States (C.I.S.). This event will give U.S. firms an
opportunity to meet with key decision-makers in the Kazakhstani,
Uzbekistani and Ukrainian computer markets, and offers unique
opportunities to gain hands-on knowledge on these markets; to attend
prearranged individual business meetings with potential agents,
distributors, and partners; and to benefit from the prestige of being
part of a U.S. Government-sponsored event. At each stop, participants
will receive market briefings, meetings with local officials, and hold
specifically tailored one-on-one business appointments with potential
partners. Participants will also receive country and market specific
information, and assistance with travel and logistical details. The
trade mission will include 2 days in Almaty, 2 days in Tashkent, and 2
day in Kiev. A company may chooose one of three ways to participate:
1) visit all three countries for a participation fee of $3,200; 2)
visit Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan only for $2,700; and 3) visit only the
Ukraine for $1,700. One to two company representatives are covered
under the participation fees, which do not include airfare, lodging,
meals, and interpreters. For more information, contact Danny Valverde
at the Commerce Department in Washington, D.C.; tel: (202) 482-0573,
