U.S. Bureau of Mines is seeking U.S. Cooperators to enter into
Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADA) to help develop
and demonstrate technology for separating automobile shredder residue
(ASR) into marketable components. Cooperators are sought in two areas.
(1) A generator of ASR is needed to provide a site at an industrial
shredding facility where a demonstration-scale separation process can
be installed. The cooperator will be required to share in the cost of
the work as part of the CRADA. (2) Cooperators are needed to establish
the marketability of products that are produced using the process,
such as various plastics, polyurethane foam, glass, fine ferrous and
nonferrous metals, and mixed fibers. Potential Cooperators will provide
technical expertise in establishing target grades for products and will
test products for their suitability within the marketplace. The U.S.
Bureau of Mines recognizes proprietary rights and can provide exclusive
licenses and other incentives to Cooperators. Interested parties may
