ROCKLEDGE DR MSC 7902, BETHESDA MD 20892-7902 66 -- HIGH STABILITY PUMP LASER SOL NHLBI-HL-P-95-110 POC Kathleen J.
Van Steelant, Contract Specialist, (301) 435-0366. It is the intent of
the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) to acquire a High
Stability Pump Laser for the fluorescence unit within the Laboratory of
Cell Biology, NHLBI. The instrument must meet the following minimum
specifications: MODE-LOCKED CONFIGURATION - 1) Repetition Rate: 80 MHz;
2) Power: ) 2 watts at 532 nm wavelength; 3) Pulsewidth: under 10
picoseconds; 4) Beam: TEM00 mode; 5) Stability: ( 1.75% peak to peak at
532 nm with ( 1.25% variation in a 2 hour period with +/-3 degree
celsius environment; and 6) Power: 115v 60Hz 10A, no external cooling
water. The high-stability pump laser system will be used to
synchronously pump existing Spectra Physics 375 dye laser or Spectra
Physics dye laser/cavity dumper combinations using either DCM or R6G
dye. The hig-stability pump laser system shall produce ) 200 mW @ 600
nm @ 4 MHz with ( 6 picoseconds pulsewidth by employing ~1/2 of green
beam (1 watt of 2 total). Proposals will be evaluated on the offeror's
demonstrated understanding of the scope of work as shown by the
ability to meet the required specifications, the offeror's experience
with supporting and maintaining the existing dye lasers in the
Laboratory of Cell Biology, the offeror's experience in providing and
maintaining synchronously pumped lasers (including sales of complete
systems and pump sources) and the offeror's proposed delivery schedule.
A firm fixed-price type contract will be negotiated for this equipment.
Delivery of the high-stability pump laser is anticipated within nine
(9) months after contract award. Tests will be performed to ascertain
that the equipment is functional before final acceptance. It is
anticipated that Request for Proposal (RFP) Number NHLBI-HL-P-95-110
will be issued on or about August 14, 1995. Copies of the RFP may be
obtained by writing to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute,
