will provide full service maintenance, including on-site repairs,
miscellaneous services, logistical support, and depot repairs for
approximately 114 transmitter locations throughout the central and
southern United States in support of the Nat'l Weather Service. In
addition, contractor will provide logistical support and depot repairs
for approximately 219 other transmitter sites at various locations
throughout the US. Services will include periodic maintenance,
equipment modifications, inventory storage and replenishment, antenna
system repairs/replacements, RF signal testing, locating suitable
antenna sites, site installation and relocation, etc. The majority of
transmitters were manufactured by Scientific Radio Systems of Rochester
NY. Additional transmitters, manufactured by Energy-Onix of Hudson NY
and potentially others, are being added to the network. Performance is
anticipated to start in Feb 96 following a 6 week phase-in period. The
period of performance is for one year with four one-year option
periods. Any resultant contract awarded will include an option to
convert logistical/depot-only support sites to full service maintenance
sites and options to add approximately 100 sites for either full
service maintenance or logistical/depot-only support. The contract will
also include phase-out options. All responsible sources may submit a
proposal which shall be considered by the agency. This procurement is
