Intent of the Government is to use proprietary Kidde/Thorn equipment for future fire alarm system contracts at USAFA unless response to this notice reveals additional vendors capable of satisfying the requirements. The announcement is not meant to procure equipment or services at this time. The existing fire alarm system consists of a Head End computer at the Fire Station connected to several Thorn KDR-1000 control panels distributed throughout the Academy with underground dedicated telephone lines picking up alarm, trouble, flow or tamper signals per zone via relays from third party fire alarm panels at the outlying buildings. The Vendor shall be capable of providing a control panel that could be inserted into the existing Thorn system loop using completely compatible protocols for communications to the Head End. The Government will use the information obtained to evaluate the capabilities of the marketplace. Interested vendors or contractors must submit clear and convincing documentation which demonstrates their capability to meet the Governments requirements within 30 days after publication of this notice. A determination by the Government to have competitive procurement based upon response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. U. S.
