510/559-6018, Contract Specialist. The USDA, Agricultural Research
Service in Albany, California has a requirement for the purchase of a
laboratory starch cooker. A package unit is needed that contains a
slurry tank, slurry supply pump with adjustable speed controller, a
slurry flowmeter, a jet cooker assembly and a flash chamber. The system
should be equipped wth a slurry/flush water diverter valve, condenser
water valve, wash water valve and other necessary features. Cooking
temperature range should be 220 degrees to 300 degrees F. Capable of
starch slurry through-put at least as low as 1.5 gallons per minute.
The cooker should have a cooking temperature selector, steam flow
meter, cooking pressure gauge and manual cooking pressure valve, etc.
The cooker should operate with 70 psig saturated steam having a 2,000
lbs/hour flow rate at 316 degrees C. The cooker piping, valves and
components which are wetted by starch slurry or cooked starch will be
constructed of type 316ss. The water piping and valves with 316ss. The
steam piping will be carbon steel with bronze valves. Interested firms
