16 -- TRAINABLE GUN MOUNT SYSTEM (TGMS) UPGRADES FOR THE AC-130U GU NSHIP SOL F33657-95-R-0074 POC Richard R. Baker, (513) 255-4152/Contracting Officer, Jeffrey L. Patterson, (513) 255-5495. The AC-130U Gunship Integrated Product Team, Special Operations Forces Development System Office, Aeronautical Systems Center, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio is planning to award a design modification contract to Delco Systems Operations, Galeta, California, for Trainable Gun Mount System (TGMS) upgrades. The TGMS consists of three integral subsystems of the AC-130U weapon system supporting the 25mm, 40mm and 105mm weapons. This contract action addresses specific component and subsystem upgrades: (1) 105mm gun mount drift, (2) manual hydraulic isolation, (3) arming circuit status, (4) 40mm Ammunition Storage and Handling System (ASHS) ammo clip compatibility, (5) 105mm recoil caution light reset, (6) 105mm extend/retract switch operation, (7) ASHS round accountability, (8) shell extraction system hardware, (9) electronic control unit data loss, and (10) 105mm load position default. Delco Systems Operations was selected for this effort based on the nonavailability of engineering data to the government. The government has identified necessary safety, maintainability and human factors upgrades that require immediate attention and a period of performance no greater than 18 months. SEE CBD NOTE #22. An Ombudsman has been established for this acquisition. The only purpose of the Ombudsman is to receive and communicate serious concerns from potential offerors when an offeror prefers not to use established channels to communicate his/her concern during the proposal development phase of this acquisition.
