The Common Airborne Instrumentation System (CAIS) Joint Program Office, Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Patuxent River, Maryland, has a requirement for Motorola semiconductors for use within the CAIS. The quantities and part numbers required are as follows: 1) 10H507/BEAJC - 194 each, 2) 10H524/BEAJC - 581 each, 3) 10H525/BEAJC - 388 each, 4) 10H531/BEAJC - 194 each, 5) 10501/BEAJC - 194 each, 6) 10524/BEAJC - 581 each, 7) 10525/BEAJC - 485 each, 8) 2N6433 - 882 each, 9) 54HC85M/B2XJC - 85 each, and 10) MC54HC390J - 380 each. This ''Brand Name Mandatory'' procurement is required in order to obtain military three temperature tested semiconductors. The Motorola semiconductors are an intregal component of highly specialized circuit boards used for flight test data acquisition. In order to maintain physical, functional, and electronic compatibility within the CAIS circuit boards, it is essential that the semiconductors be obtained from Motorola. The use of other semiconductors would require a complete redesign of the CAIS circuit boards. The purchase order will be firm fixed price with delivery to the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Patuxent River, Maryland. Under the new simplified acquisition procedures, a Request for Quotation (RFQ) will be issued for this hardware. The purchase order is anticipated to be issued on or before 20 September 1995. Competition is being sought among Motorola's distributors. All responsible sources may submit a quotation, which if received in a timely manner, shall be considered by the agency.
