93 -- CONCRETE SHIELDING BLOCKS POC Contact Point, DAVID DALE, (516)282-3199 Brookhaven National Laboratory intends to solicit bids for 190 Concrete Shielding Blocks. Shielding is necessary to isolate users and staff personnel from neutron flux radiation produced by the sections of the SDL Accelerator and Associated FEL. Approximately 190 concrete shielding block pillars shall be required to adequately protect personal and sensitive electronics from radiation produced from SDL Accelerator. This announcement invites manufacturer of performed reinforced concrete block shapes to express an interest in the procurement of 190 concrete shielding block pillars. The block pillars have overall dimensions of 30''x16''x96'' five sides finished. The weight of each block shall not exceed 4000 lbs. The block shall have a welded rebar reinforcement cage. Welded to the cage will be a lifting plate which shall protrude through the base of a pocket in the top of the shield block yet below flush with the top. Verticle side edges shall have 1'' chambers and a 2'' steel angle shall reinforce the pillars base. Blocks shall be produced in the most economical method possible with staggered delivery of approximately 63 blocks per month over a 3 month period beginning October, 1995.
