The Naval Sea Systems Command intends to award a Cost-Plus-Fixed-Fee Contract for an estimated 14,500 manhours, plus Options for an additional 24,035 manhours, for Design Agent Engineering and Technical Services associated with the support of the 5''/54 Caliber MK 45 Gun Mount and the MK 86 Gun Fire Control System/MK 45 Gun System interface for both the United States Navy and Foreign Fleets. United Defense (formerly FMC Corporation), located in Minneapolis, MN is the current producer of the MK 45 and the MK 86 Gun Systems and is the only source which possesses the technical expertise to design, manufacture, operate and troubleshoot any aspect of the MK 45 and MK 86. No other source has the technical qualifications and the necessary resources to perform the work described herein, nor will any other supplies or services satisfy the Navy's requriements in a timely manner.
