procurement of a construction project titled ''Patient-Staff Training
Rooms'' (Project No. 672-95-101). Work includes the furnishing of all
specialized labor and supervision, material, equipment and associated
costs for the renovation of an approximate area of 6,500 sq. ft. in the
second floor of the Medical Center. The plan includes 616 sq. ft. of
nursing training, 850 sq. ft. of nursing education, 176 sq. ft. of
personnel offices, 125 sq. ft. of clerk offices, 2,500 sq. ft. of
training rooms and 436 sq. ft. of toilet and storage areas. The
renovation will restructure the existing spaces to comply with the
necessities of the program while maintaining the existing distribution
and features of the area to the greatest extent possible. The
intervention will demand the demolition of some interior partitions in
various rooms. The ceiling areas of these spaces shall be redesigned.
Other spaces will only be affected by the changes in its ceiling
distribution. Other changes includes: the removal of the plumbing and
some electrical outlets in the training rooms, the removal of some
doors, the relocation of others, and the demolition of closet units in
the Nursing Education, Nursing Specialist, and clerk rooms. The spaces
affected the most by the new uses in the area will be the toilet rooms.
The toilets to remain are redesigned to comply with the American with
Disabilities Act of 1990. The present toilets in the training room will
be eliminated to provide areas for storage and the ones existing in the
Nursing Education, Nursing Specialist, and clerk rooms will remain
unaltered. Work will also include electrical work, asbestos abatement
and demolition work as required by drawings and specifications. Bidders
are requested to visit the site and attend the Pre-Bid conference. The
estimated cost range is between $100,000.00 and $250,000.00. This
procurement is set aside for small business and subject to the
availability of funds. Bid documents will be available on or about
August 14,1995. Plans and specifications will be furnished upon
request. All requests shall be submitted in writing to the Issuing
Office or requested by facsimile to (809) 766-6035. See numbered note
