COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 9,1995 PSA#1406NASA, Johnson Space Center, BE33, Houston, TX 58 -- A HAND HELD AMMONIA LEAK LOCATOR SOL 9BE3303546P DUE 091595 POC
STEVE JANNEY, Tel:713-483-8505 Contracting Officer:LISA REA,
Tel:713-483-8395 This is a sources sought synopsis for a hand-held
amonia leak locator. The Crew and Thermal Systems Division at the
Johnson Space Center is planning to develop a hand held ammonia leak
locator that will be used as an Extra Vehicular Activity (EVA) tool.
Ammonia is the external thermal transfer fluid for the International
Space Station. If the ammonia in the thermal control systems starts to
leak, that leak must be located and repaired. The tool must operate in
an EVA environment, and it must be capable of detecting a partial
pressure of 1.0 X 10-6 torr ammonia in the presence of a 2.0 X 10-6
torr background consisting of N2, CO2, H2O, and O2. Innovative and low
cost solutions are being sought. The tool must be shipped to the
Johnson Space Center by November of 1998. Dr. John Graf is the
technical point of contact at NASA/JSC and can be reached at (713)
483-9226. Information can be mailed to NASA/JSC with attention to Dr.
Graf, Mail Code: EC3, Houston TX, 77058. Information can also be faxed
to Dr. Graf at (713) 483-5060. (0219) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0322 19950808\58-0005.SOL)
