D -- SATELLITE DATA ARCHIVING POC Marlene Quade, 301-713-0839, Contract Specialist The DOC/NOAA/NESDIS/Satellite Data Services Division (SDSD)intends to procure on a sole source basis a three (3) month extension of contract 50-DDNE-1-00036 with the University of Wisconsin, Space Science and Engineering Center (SSEC). The extension will be from October 1 through December 31, 1995. SSEC has been providing technology support services for GOES archival and retrieval to NOAA since 1979. SSEC archives the GOES-7 MODE AAA datastream and the GVAR (GOES Variable) datastream since the launch of GOES-8 and GOES-9. GVAR is the data format from the GOES I-M series of satellites. The archieval and retrieval services function will be transfered to the Government in January 1996. This extension is needed to bridge the time between the completion of the contract with SSEC the the Government's start date. Archiving and retrieval from the GOES satellites are mandatory functions for the satellite data user community. Any firm which can provide these services shall submit adequate technical information clearly identifying their capability to provide these services, to the contact cited above within 15 days of this notice.
