Brooks AFB TX intends to negotiate with Helena Laboratories on a sole source basis: Only one responsible source can meet the agency's requirement. Requirement is for 1 ea. Rapid Electrophoresis Chemistry Analyzer to include 1 ea. PC-compatible 486 CPU, Cat# 1352, 1 ea. Gel processor, Cat# 1357, one ea. start-up kit, two ea. Operator's Manuals, two ea. Parts Lists, and two each Schematic drawings. System must be able to do the following: 1) assay a minimum of 30 samples on a single gel, 2) the Gel Processor must be available for automated staining of gels, 3) must be capable of identifying hemoglobin H variant, 4) sample and reagent application, electrphoresis, incubation, and drying must be performed automatically, 5) must include an IBM compatible 486 stand alone personal computer, 6) must have the Isoelectric Focusing tool for the identification of hemoglobinopathies, 7) must have a densitimeter module that provides the capability for scanning up to 99 patient samples, 8) must be capable of identifying hemoglobin variants in routine electrophoresis, 9) must be able to perform STAT hemoglobin procedures, 10) must have the capability of measuring High Resolution Serum Protein Electrophoresis, and 11) must have the capability of measuring glycosylate hemoglobins.
