The USDA, Agricultural Research Service, intends to negotiate solely with Bruker Instruments, Inc., of Billerica, MA, for a Bruker EMS104 EPR Analyzer to be furnished and delivered FOB destination to the Eastern Regional Research Center in Philadelphia, PA. This system shall be bench/desk-top type and include a fully computer-controlled microwave source, permanent magnet with sweep coils, 50kHz signal channel, automatic tuning and intensity/ integral readout, with appropriate EPR analysis software. This system will be used to measure the effects of ionizing radiation on bone and amino acids over a very wide range of doses on food products/materials. Companies with the demonstrated ability to provide and maintain such a system must submit a written substantive statement which outlines the company's and the system's capabilities, including all pertinent descriptive literature, to the Contracting Officer within 15 days of this notice.
