Z -- DESIGN/BUILD RENOVATIONS FOR AUTOMATION - BROCKTON PROCESSING AND DISTRIBUTION CENTER, 225 LIBERTY STREET, BROCKTON MA 02401-9731 Sol RFP 415046-95-A-0594, Due 082895, POC Project Manager, Edward W. This solicitation will be a fixed price design/build contract consisting of 20,000 square feet of renovation on two floors, which includes the following: (1) Demolition of existing concrete block and drywall partitions, vinyl flooring, acoustical ceilings, ductwork and lighting; (2) Structural work includes reinforcing plus or minus 7,000 square feet of second floor slab, relocating two bays of shear bracing and foundations for a freight elevator; (3) General construction includes a freight elevator, office and workroom renovations, drywall partitioning with vision panels, bumpers and guardrails, doors, asphalt plank and vinyl composition flooring acoustic tile ceilings, modifications to existing lookout gallery and a new second floor lookout gallery/breakout; (4) Mechanical work consists of ductwork renovations, providing exhaust for one piece of postal equipment, a floor sink; and (5) Electrical work includes new and relocated lighting, power distribution equipment, power to relocated postal equipment and tele/data outlets. The project is to be constructed in three phases while the building is occupied. Protection of existing equipment and close coordination with plant maintenance staff will be required. The construction cost for the project is valued between $400,000.00 and $750,000.00 with completion required within 180 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Offeror must be experienced in design/build work and primarily engaged in this line of work and, who, in addition, shall have satisfactorily completed at least three prior projects comparable in size and scope of the work required by this solicitation. A preproposal conference has been scheduled for August 15, 1995 at 11:00 am at the Brockton Processing and Distribution Center, 225 Liberty Street, Brockton MA 02401-9731.
