F -- EXTENSION OF DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTAL TO THE VENDOR FIELD ANALYTICAL AND CHARACTERIZATION TECHNOLOGIES SYSTEM (VENDOR FACTS) VERSION 1.0 The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) National Exposure Research Laboratory (NERL), formerly Environmental Monitoring Systems Laboratory, Las Vegas (EMSL-LV), of the Office of Research and Development and the Technology Innovation Office (TIO) of the Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response have revised and added to the list of field analytical and characterization technologies for inclusion in Vendor FACTS, Version 1.0. The original list of technologies was published in the Commerce Business Daily dated February 15, 1995 and can also be found in the fact sheet (EPA publication #542-F-95-001), which is available by calling TIO at (703) 308-8805. As a result, we are extending the submission deadline for the Vendor Information Form (VIF) that a technology vendor must complete in order to participate in Vendor FACTS. The new submission deadline is now September 12, 1995. VIFs submitted after the deadline will be considered for the next version of Vendor FACTS, which is scheduled for release in 1996. To obtain a Vendor FACTS VIF (EPA publication #542-R-94-007), fax your request to U.S. EPA/NCEPI at (513) 489-8695 (Phone Verification: (513)489-8190). Include your name, company name, address, telephone and fax number. New categories added to the list of technologies invited to participate are: gas and other chromatography; ion mobility spectroscopy and other spectroscopy techniques; electro-chemical-based detectors; subsurface resistivity geophysical instruments; air sampling technologies; water sampling technologies; and soil sampling technologies. The revised list (with better definition of certain technologies from the initial list) of technologies includes: air measurement (weather measurement technologies excluded); analytical detectors (stand alone only); biosensors; chemical reaction-based indicators (colormetric); in situ chemical sensors; fiber optic chemical sensors and analyzers; gas chromatographies; immunoassays; infrared (long path) monitors; mass spectrography (may include GC/MS); soil gas analyzer systems; thermal desorption devices; x-ray fluorescence analyzers; in situ physical sensors; ground penetrating radar; high frequency electromagnetic (EM) sounding; shallow seismic reflection/refraction; subsurface conductivity geophysical instruments; subsurface magnetrometry geophysical (EM) geophysics instruments; extraction technologies (analytical traps); and supercritical fluid extraction. Background: Vendor FACTS was developed to provide current information on field analytical and site characterization technologies for contaminated hazardous waste sites. The system will provide a means for monitoring and measurement technology vendors to make their products and capabilities known to prospective users. By meeting certain requirements and completing the Vendor Information Form (VIF), vendors can be included in the first release of this database in late 1995. The database will allow users to screen technologies for vendors who provide monitoring and measurement services for site characterization. (221)
