plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for a Gas
Chromatograph-Infrared Spectrometer Interface (GC-IR Interface) --
NASA/MSFC intends to purchase from Perkin Elmer the following items:
All items are Perkin Elmer Part Nos. and the quantity of all 9 items is
one each -- Item 1, System 2000/Autosystem GC-IR Interface, 100-120V,
P/N L1400003, The interface shall connect directly to Autosystem GC
with no transfer line, shall be capable of being fitted to any of the
four output beams of the System 2000 FTIR, and shall incorporate low
volume lightpipe with heating capability of 350 degrees C -- Item 2,
Autosystem GC Fitting Kit, P/N L1400032 -- Item 3, 0.5MM NB MCT
Detector, P/N 04994263, Detector shall be narrow band with .5 mm target
and shall include hardware and electronics to mount inside the System
2000/Autosystem GC-IR interface -- Item 4, Time Resolve Software, P/N
L1306230 -- Item 5, PC Multiple Transputer Board, P/N L1306140, Board
shall be use parallel processing technology with data transfer rates of
10Mbits/second, shall allow data transfer to the System 2000 FTIR,
shall be capable of performing FFT, storage of interferograms and
spectra all at rates of up to 20 scans/second, and processing speed
shall be up to 80 MIPS -- Item 6, Left Back KBr output Window, P/N

-- All items shall be integratable with existing PE system 2000 and
Autosystem GC Hardware -- This procurement is being conducted under the
Simplified Acquisition Threshold (SAT) portion of the Federal
Acquisition Streamlining Act (FASA) -- Request for copies of the RFQ
must be submitted in writing -- Transmission by facsimile to

acceptable -- Note: This sole-source procurement, described is based on
proprietary specifications and system compatability requirements, --
Interested firms have 15 days from the publication date of this
synopsis to submit their qualifications/capabilities in the critical
areas mentioned above, along with a request for a copy of the
solicitation -- Such qualifications/capabilities will be used solely
for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this
procurement on a competitive basis -- Responses received after the 15
days or without the required information will be considered
nonresponsive to the synopsis and will not be considered -- A
determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract,
on a full and open competitive basis, based upon responses to this
notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government -- Oral
communications are not acceptable in response to this notice -- The RFQ
containing detailed specifications will be released on or about 15 days
after publication of this notice in the Commerce Business Daily (CBD)
