Foley GP22-C/Contracting Officer NASA/MSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) to procure a support structure for a heliostat which will be provided by MSFC -- The following are some of the design requirements -- GFE MIRROR MODULE DESCRIPTION - The flat reflective surface will be comprised of mirror modules having a total size of 24 feet X 20 feet, and weigh a minimum of 2000 lbs -- The mirror modules will be provided by MSFC as government furnished equipment (GFE) -- MIRROR SUPPORT STRUCTURE - The support structure must be capable of supporting and controlling the mirror modules as specified -- The mirror should not move more than 3 milliradians at wind speeds of 10 mph -- The structure will withstand total wind loads of 70 mph -- DUAL AXIS GEAR DRIVE - Two-stage gear trains will be provided for tracking the sun in both azimuth and elevation -- No backdrive is required -- CONTROL SYSTEM SOFTWARE - The control software shall provide open loop sun tracking (year-round in Huntsville, Alabama) -- Software provides position status and allows independent positioning -- DRIVER - Control electronics with standard 120 VAC drive motors, and limit switches will be provided -- Complete specifications will be included in the RFQ -- This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Threshold (SAT) portion of the Federal Acquisition Streamlining Act (FASA) -- Request for copies of the RFQ must be submitted in writing -- Transmission by facsimile to 205-544-9080 or by Internet e-mail to kenneth.smith@msfc.nasa.gov is acceptable -- The RFQ will be released on or about 15 days after publication of this notice in the Commerce Business Daily (CBD) -- The RFQ will have a 15 day response period -- This procurement is a total small business set-aside.
