28 -- FY93 AIR FORCE FIGHTER ENGINES POC Lee E. Aeronautical Systems Center, Propulsion Development System Office (ASC/LP), plans to place orders for the F100-PW-229 Engine, F110-GE-129 Engines and Engine Monitoring System Computers, warranty, and production data against existing Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contracts awarded to Pratt & Whitney (28 Jan 94) and General Electric (13 Apr 94). These Firm Fixed Price (FFP) contracts cover requirements for both domestic and Foreign Military Sales users of fighter weapon system platforms. The orders were planned in the basic contracts. The current acquisitions encompass combat aircraft production engines, inspection and testing, engine software, and associated items including warranties, as specified by General Electric contract line item numbers 0003AA, 0011AA and 0018AB, and Pratt & Whitney contract line item numbers 0008, 0019 and 0024. The required engines are fully developed, qualified and have demonstrated the capability to support the missions of multiple users for DoD fighter aircraft currently utilizing the F100 and F110 engine families. The contractors are authorized to receive and store classified material up to and including Secret classification. The contractors receiving these awards are classified as large businesses. An Ombudsman has been established for this acquisition. The only purpose of the Ombudsman is to receive and communicate serious concerns from potential offerors when an offeror prefers not to use established channels to communicate his concern. Potential offerors should use established channels to request information, pose questions, and voice concerns before resorting to use of the Ombudsman.
