59 -- WATER-COOLED, HIGH-POWER RESISTORS POC Contact Point, Wayne Greene, 202/619-2339, Contracting Officer The U.S. Information Agency, using Simplified Acquisition Procedures, intends to non-competitively award to GEC Marconi Communications Inc. (GEC), Chelmsford, England, a purchase order for 5 kilowatt, water-cooled, high-power resistors (20/50/120 ohms) and associated insulator tubes for use in GEC 500 kilowatt broadcast transmitters at USIA's Udorn Relay Station. GEC is the original equipment manufacturer of the 500 KW transmitters, and as such is the only company qualified to provide the required replacement parts. Authority for other than full and open competition is 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Only one responsible source and no other suppliers or services will satisfy the Agency's requirements. This synopsis of intent to award the above-stated purchase order shall not be considered a solicitation document; therefore, no order will be placed on the basis of any response to this notice.
