70 -- HIGH SPEED MAINFRAME LASER PRINTERS SOL SSA RFP 96 2551 DUE 092795 POC Andrew Klimas tel: (410) 965-9493 The Social Security Administration (SSA) plans to issue a solicitation for the competitive acquisition of up to three continuous form Advanced Function Presentation (AFP) compatible non-impact printer systems. Each printer system will consist of a printer and pre/post processing equipment. The printer offered must be able to print 150 images per minute (IPM) with 240 X 240 dots per inch (DPI) resolution. Pre and post processing equipment required for each printer system include roll paper feed and cutsheet/fanfold output. The printers must be capable of attachment to a switchable channel device for multiple host connectivity. The printers must also be capable of data transmission to mainframes via ESCON channels over a distance of .3 kilometers using an IBM 9034 Enterprise Systems Connection converter. The printer systems will be installed in Social Security Headquarters Buildings located in Baltimore, MD. It is anticipated that as a result of the issuance of the solicitation, a contract will be awarded that will allow ordering of two printers with a third printer as an option through the third contract year, with five years' maintenance on the printers. SSA-RFP-96-2551 is expected to be released on or after August 28, 1995, with proposals due 30 days thereafter. Any firm requesting a copy of SSA-RFP-96-2551 must submit its request in writing within fifteen days of this announcement. All requests should cite SSA-RFP-96-2551. See Note 12. (0227)
