The U.S. Postal Service is seeking professional services to evaluate and redesign the process used to edit, produce, and maintain the Domestic Mail Manual (DMM). The USPS seeks to produce the DMM in an open architecture system that will facilitate the use of DMM information in various electronic and paper copy publishing systems. The contractor will analyze the DMM production system, propose improvements to the current system or convert the DMM to a new system, implement the proposal, and provide document management services. The proposed system should provide a separate editor and publisher interface and must be able to attach identification information to data elements. The DMM is currently produced with Interleaf I-5 software. The solicitation is scheduled to be issued on or about August 28, 1995. Interested parties should write to the above address.
