The Naval Research Laboratory has a requirement for a portable analog-to-digital data acquisition system to use during field tests. The portable DAS will be used during field tests of IR systems to digitize and store the analog imagery and signals from an infrared scanning imager. After the test, the files containg the digitized imagery data in the portable DAS will be transferred to an NRL computer for processing using NRL written software. The three analog signals to be sampled, digitized and stored originate from an AGA Thermovision 782/SWB infrared scanning imager. The signals out of the scanner are a ''video'' signal and two trigger signals (horizontal and vertical). The ''video'' signal contains the IR image information . It is delivered from the scanner in a format unique to the AGA, that is, it is not in a ''standard'' format such as NTSC or PAL. The trigger signals provide timing marks to appropiately display the image. Thus the DAS unit must capture 3 analog signals: the imagery (or ''video'') signal and horizontal and vertical trigger signal pulse trains.
