Yerger (816) 426-7267, extension 231 The National Weather Service plans to issue a solicitation to perform surface/aviation weather observations and related services at the National Weather Service (NWS) Office, Minneaspolis, Minnesota. The Contractor will be required to provide NWS certified weather observers to take, document, and disseminate surface and aviation weather data on a continuous basis, 24 hours daily, seven (7) days a week. The observer program consists of weather and climate observations via the Microcomputer Aided Paperless Surface Observations (MAPSO). At some time during the term of this contract, the obervations may become automated. At that time the work to be performed shall change to the augmentation and back-up of the Automated Surface Observation System (ASOS). The backup program consists of evaluating and reporting data normally evaluated and reported by ASOS. The anticipated base period of performance is November 1, 1995 through Spetember 30, 1996. The contract will contain one option to extend performance for one consecutive 12-month period. The total duration of the contract shall not exceed twenty-three months. Solicitation will be issued on or about September 4, 1995. This is a total small business set-aside. SIC Code 8999 applies. All requests must be in writing. Requests may be faxed to (816) 426-7530.
