The Defense Information Systems Agency's (DISA) Joint Interoperability and Engineering Organization (JIEO) Center for Standards is soliciting participation by government, industry, and academia in the improvement of MIL-STD-188-181, -182, and -183, UHF SATCOM interoperability standards, dated 18 September 1992. This effort will involve: (1) reviewing submitted proposed changes to the standard; (2) proposing and evaluating major changes and additions that will reduce inherent communications delays (including waveform acquisition, link set-up, and turn-around delays that impact voice communications); and (3) participating in open-forum technical working group meetings to discuss the proposed changes. Organizations interested in participating in this effort are requested to provide written response by 15 September 1995 to DISA/JIEO Center for Standards, ATTN: JEBBC, Fort Monmouth, NJ 07703-5613; FAX: (908) 532-7883 or DSN: 992-7883. All information provided by industry and academia during this improvement effort shall be nonproprietary and at no cost to the government. All organizations participating in this effort must do so at their own expense. This announcement will not obligate DISA/JIEO Center for Standards or any other government organizations to reimburse any participant's expenses. DOD cannot assure that any procurement will result from this effort. Only written responses to this announcement will be accepted.
