Under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), FAR 6.302-1, the National Institutes of Health (NCI) intends to procure a Flow Cytometer Upgrade from Becton Dickinson Immunocytometry Systems, 2350 Qume Drive, San Jose, CA, 95131. The contractor shall furnish and install an upgrade on a existing FACSCalibur Flow Cytometer System manufactured by Becton Dickinson. The upgrade shall be 100% compatible with an existing cytometry system thus allowing for support for maintenance under the NIH-wide maintenance contract with Becton Dickinson. The upgrade shall provide sorting capability to the flow cytometer; shall have the capability to support remote diagnostics and instrument control by use of remote accessing software and external modem; shall be compatible with a Quadra 650 Macintosh computer system; shall sort mechanically, producing no aerosols; shall be able to produce sorting rates of at least 300 cells/second. It is the Government's belief that these requirements can only be met by Becton Dickinson Immunocytometry System. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals, however, if an interested party believes they can meet the above specifications, they must submit their capabilities, and furnish concise responses directed specifically to the requirements mentioned above. Sources demonstrating the capability to accomplish the above shall supply pertinent information in sufficient detail to demonstrate their ability to perform. Information furnished shall include enough material to perform a proper evaluation.
