84 -- PARACHUTIST HELMETS POC Jane H. Sutherlin, Contracting Specialist, 910/432-2146; Robert Cherry, 910/432-2297, Contracting Officer. This is a notice of intent to purchase the following items using Simplified Acquisition Procedures. Parachutist Helmets - Medium 16 each; Large - 16 each; X Large - 4 each. The helmets shall be lightweight for use as High Altitude Low Opening (HALO) operations. The helmet is designed to provide head, eye, facial protection and incorporate communications ability to military parachutist personnel. The Assembly provides cranial protection through the use of an advanced lightweight composite structure. The helmet shell and liner shall be designed to resist penetration by sharp objects, to distribute the forces during impact and to reduce the impact energy transmitted to the wearers head. The helmet shall be designed to optimize peripheral vision. The HALO helmet incorporates lightweight components providing increased stability and retention without compromising weight, protection and visibility. The outer shell shall be painted lusterless grey to blend with current military aircraft camouflage schemes. The foam cored edge shall be bonded to the edge to provide comfort and improve sound attenuation. The foam core is covered with high quality leather. The assembly shall include a standard form fitted liner sized for the given head sizes. The assembly shall include the standard oxygen mask bayonet receiver housed in lightweight covers. To ensure maximum retention, separate chin and nape straps are attached to the helmet shell and are adjustable to fit each individual. The communication system includes left and right side earphone elements and external dynamic boom microphone can be mounted to either side of the helmet depending on user preference. The assembly shall include a clear goggle assembly for eye protection. The goggle frame shall have extra protection in the forehead area to ensure both comfort and tight seal to the face. Interested parties should identify their interest and capability by submitting complete technical and pricing data within 15 days of publication of this notice. Responses to this notice will be considered for award using Simplified Acquisition Procedures. Failure to provide adequate information to reflect compliance with all specifications contained herein will result in disqualification. No solicitation will be issued as a result of this notice.
