This program is an integral part of the Department of Defenses Counterproliferatiion Advanced Concept Technology Demonstration (ACTD). The AGDID program will draw from on-going technology programs and integrate the most promising of these technologies into an enhanced payload for a current inventoried weapon. Specifically, an enhanced payload consisting of the standard BLU-109 penetrator filled with an explosive charge and a packaged quantity of neutralizing agent for the defeat of biological and chemical storage and production facilities is desired. The Hard Target Smart Fuze (HTSF) will be used with the penetrator and a weapon borne telemetry package may be attached to the penetrator for transmitting fuze function and battle damage information. The BLU-109 configuration may require modification to ease compatibility with the enhanced payload and/or the HSTF. The contractor will have the overall system integration responsibility for the components of the GBU-24 and its integration with the designated aircraft. The mass properties of the enhanced BLU-109 will be the same to avoid any additional flight certification testing. The basic program duration is expected to be approximately 24 months with the ACTD demo occurring in FY98 plus two option phases of 6 months each consisting of the procurement of enhanced BLU-109s for the ACTD demo and a separate quantity for operational prototypes.
